Safety: Our recycled sunglasses offer maximum protection with UV 400 CE
What does that mean?
UV 400 CE is a European certification standard that ensures sunglasses offer maximum protection against the sun’s UV rays. Lenses with this certification block 100% of UVA and UVB rays up to a wavelength of 400 nanometers, which is considered the maximum threshold for protection against harmful UV rays.
Sunglasses that carry this certification are recommended to protect eyes from damage caused by harmful UV rays.
We are now reassured!
Safety #2: Our recycled sunglasses are category 3 sunglasses.
What does that mean?
Category 3 is a classification used for sunglass lenses that indicates the amount of visible light that can pass through the lenses. Category 3 lenses allow between 8% and 18% of visible light to pass through and are considered to offer good protection against bright light and harmful UV rays. Category 3 lenses are generally suitable for medium to high brightness conditions and are recommended for driving, the beach, the mountains, water activities, and other outdoor activities.
Our founder, Valérie Orsoni, wore them up to 4000m during her recent expedition to Nepal, on the plane, while running, at the beach, and at the pool.
You can literally wear them anywhere, except maybe if you’re climbing Mount Everest (there, you will need very dark category 4 sunglasses 🙂
